Durham walk in aid of the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation 29 Oct 2016

Our 8 mile walk on Saturday, led by Peter Gilliland, explored some areas of Durham many of us had never seen before. Starting at County Hall , the highlight was Brasside ponds, a tranquil area close to Newton Hall. Peter leads a walk every year to raise money for the Bobby Robson Foundation because

the Gilliland family once had a close link to Sir Bobby. David Gilliland, Peter’s dad, was Bobby’s football teacher at school and Bobby kept in touch with him throughout his career, often inviting him to matches at Newcastle in later years. This year Peter raised £230 for the charity and is pleased to donate it in memory of a true gentleman. If you didn’t go on the walk but would still like to donate just get in touch with Peter or let us know through the contacts link on this page.

Smashing walk, certainly some new tracks for me! Good attendance as well, nice to catch up with the chat after missing a few this year.
