Summer Walk: Allendale 2019

Saturday 11th May 2019

47 members set out for our Allendale ramble.  We didn’t stop off for coffee as there were races and roadworks in Hexham. So we arrived in Allendale Town and descended on the Tea Shop.

we had excellent walks with mostly lovely weather (just one shower and a quick hail shower to contend with). The B party had an extra 2 miles optional which was eagerly taken up.

As we were on the B walk we had lovely views including Bolt’s Law – highest point in County durham.

There were still lambs and bluebells to see, but now the butterflies and other flying bugs are out in abundance too. We saw a deer, a rabbit and 3 ponies, there were an awful lot of styles to contend with on this walk.

The Art Gallery in Allendale Town served a large variety of foods and the tomato and basil soup was really excellent – all good value for money too.

we met back at the coach for a 17:45 set off  straight back home.
